Mantidplot has served us well for 12 years, but has aged and cannot be supported in newer operating systems, such as Ubuntu 20.04. Mantid Workbench is a replacement using newer technologies and more robust development approaches.
Both are in current installations of Mantid, but version 5.1 (due September 2020) will be the final release to include Mantidplot.
If Mantid Workbench is the Olympian Greek Gods, then MantidPlot is the Titans before them.
